Texas State Moment



In this life there are so many moments that we carry with us forever. Looking specifically into moments here at Texas State, there is only one that I will forever carry with me. That moment is my journey actually getting into Texas State and receiving my acceptance letter.

I had graduated high school in 2014 and immediately following that I went to college. My first year of college took me to Utah Valley University. It was a quick freshman year that lead to me finding my way back here to Texas. My second year of college I completed at Blinn College. The second year hit hard my grades were bad and the year just left my GPA sinking fast. In that moment I decided to take a semester off and go get EMT certified. Two thousand dollars later and a piece of paper in my hands saying I could save lives I realized it wasn’t for me. It was time for me to face that dreaded mess of a GPA. Facing that made me set a goal on attending Texas State and getting a change of scenery.

Lots of endless nights studying and a few community college classes later my GPA was where it needed to be and I found myself starting at the paper that truly kick started my future and here I am now, just a few short months from getting another piece of paper that will be the foundation of my future.

My favorite thing I did during the first part of the summer was frequent the pool at my apartment complex and the local bubble tea shop, which is called “Teapioca”. I chose these two locations as my favorite part because I was taking summer classes every day in May and June, just as I am right now. The pool and Teapioca were quiet, calm places that kept me sane during the times where I had nothing else to do after class and no friends to hang out with during this off-season time where no one is in town. a dip in the water or a refreshing beverage sure can do a lot for your mental health! I can also count being in San Marcos in general as my favorite part of the summer. The vibe here during the summer, where no one is here except actual San Marcos residents and the handful of college students that regret enrolling in summer classes, is a very special kind of calm.

My Favorite Summer Memory

My Favorite Summer Memory By: Kaylee Ware   So far this summer, I’ve been incredibly busy with my summer classes, applying to internships, and working part-time, but I’ve also had more time to spend with my friends. This is my last summer being in college, so I'm trying to soak in as many good times and memories with them as I can. Although my summer schedule is pretty hectic, my friends and I still manage to find time to spend together. My favorite thing to do with my friends in San Marcos is to get coffee and talk or to float the river. We enjoy thrift shopping and hiking. We also spend a lot of time studying at the library and at the pool.
