Social Media Is My Thing

When it comes to Social Media I believe I’m an authority. Ever since I was 12-years-old I’ve had a social media account. My first account was Myspace and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing to be anyone I wanted. I always stayed true to myself, so it was easy to control and establish my tone when it came to social media. Now fast forward 10 years later I can’t even remember my        Myspace password. I now have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat account that I use and post to almost every day. I have adapted my personality and character to these accounts. They have helped shape and create me into who I am today. I know that sounds super “millennial,” but the millennial generation is a force to be reckoned with. We have learned to thrive in an era so focused on bringing us down and labeling us as “lazy.” That’s why we use social media as an outlet to bring change and establish our platforms.

For the past 10 years I’ve been learning and accruing skills needed to become an authority when it comes to social media. It teaches me something every day and becomes a more powerful and easy tool for people of any age to use. I know all the “do’s” and “don’ts” when it comes to posting. I’ve also learned the technical side of social media in the instance that one of my accounts gets hacked or compromised. It’s important to know that social media is more than just a place to go to post how happy or sad your day was. Major business and corporations, even the President of the United States uses social media to get information out there. Social media is an authority and entity all within itself and it’s important to understand the power it holds when it comes to changing the world.
